Telecommunication Certification Bodies (TCB) Services

A Telecommunication Certification Body (TCB) is an organization that has been designated by the FCC or by a foreign government to issue equipment authorizations. TCBs review test reports and technical documentation submitted by test laboratories and issue grants of equipment authorization on behalf of the FCC.

Role of TCBs

Before TCBs were established, all FCC equipment authorizations had to be reviewed and issued directly by the FCC, which created significant delays. TCBs are designated third-party organizations that can issue grants of authorization on behalf of the FCC, significantly reducing certification timelines. Most FCC certifications for intentional radiators are now issued by TCBs.

CTS and TCBs

CTS works with designated TCBs to manage the complete FCC certification process. After performing the required testing, CTS prepares the technical documentation package and submits it to a TCB for review and grant issuance. This streamlined process typically results in faster certification timelines than direct FCC filing. CTS manages all TCB interactions on behalf of our clients.

TCB Process

The TCB certification process begins with testing at an accredited laboratory. CTS prepares a complete technical documentation package including test reports, equipment descriptions, photographs, and operational descriptions. The package is submitted to a TCB, which reviews the documentation and issues a grant of equipment authorization if the requirements are met.
